H.E. Dr. Abdullah Bin Ali Al Amri

Abdullah Bin Ali Al Amri holds a BS in geology from Qatar University, a master’s in engineering geology and hydrogeology from Moscow University, and a PhD in civil engineering: environmental engineering from University Technology Malaysia. His experience includes head of the department of water research, a member of the Committee of Municipality affairs — Dhofar — Sadah, vice chairman of Oman Abalone fisheries management and development committee, member of Shura Council and chairman of the Omani Belarusian friendship committee.

H.E Sheikh Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Rawas

Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas has been elected the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the term 2022-2026.

To be the youngest president of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he represents the public shareholding companies, who were allocated seats for the first time at the OCCI.

He is a member of the board of directors of Oman Packaging Co, a representative of Al Baraka Financial Services, and a member of the board of directors of Salalah Mills, Al Rawas Holding LLC, Kunooz Oman Holding, and Al Baraka Investment Co.

H.E Munther Al Busaidi

Mr. Munther has backgrounds in finance, accounting and behavioural economics that are gained through experience and a passion to learn. He has undertaken leadership positions at Sultan Qaboos University, Ministry of Economy and their company “The Firm for Business & Economic Consulting”. He looks forward to contribute with his leadership positions as the Vice-Chairman of the Vision 2024 Implementation Follow-up Unit to add value and make an impact to the society and the Sultanate overall.Mr. Munther provides consulting and capacity building training in various business disciplines and skills. These include Finance for Non-Finance, Behavioral Economics, and up-skilling in different business skills.He has also dealt a lot with SMEs via coaching and training programs. What drives him is his passion to learn and become a better version of myself.

Dr. Ali Al Shidhani

Dr. Ali Al Shidhani is a result-oriented thought leader and industry shaper with a proven track record of success in academia, government, and the private sector. With a passion for fostering a positive attitude, I firmly believe that every challenge presents an opportunity for growth. I am dedicated to leveraging technology and innovation to drive economic advancement, both within Oman and globally.

Throughout my career, he has gained invaluable experience across academia, government, and the private sector. I have spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at nurturing Oman’s knowledge-based economy, which has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the country’s innovation ecosystem.

Currently serving as the Undersecretary for Communications & Information Technology at the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, I am leading efforts to architect a Digital Economy that contributes to Oman’s prosperity. In my previous role as Group VP Technology for Asyad Group, he was responsible for formulating and executing the organization’s technology and innovation strategy. Prior to that, he served as the director of Research Centers & ICT Research at The Research Council of Oman, where he successfully managed research centers and pioneered national-level initiatives in research and innovation. Additionally, as an Assistant Professor at Sultan Qaboos University, he imparted knowledge, conducted cutting-edge research, and mentored undergraduate and postgraduate students.

He has a strong academic background, with a B.Eng in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University, a Master of IT in Data Communications from the Queensland University of Technology, and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia.

He is a positive and optimistic person who believes in the power of technology to shape a brighter future for Oman and the world at large, firmly believing that it can only be achieved through unwavering dedication and hard work.

Dr. Salim is an energetic and enthusiastic person who enjoys a challenge and achieving personal goals. Rebecca Olson

Rebecca Olson leads the team at OABC. Hailing from Upstate New York, Rebecca brings to OABC more than 20 years of experience serving nonprofit and for-profit organizations in Rochester, Boston, Nairobi, Ramallah, and Muscat. After completing her Master of Science (MS) in Communications and Global Business at Rochester Institute of Technology, Rebecca worked with various social development and humanitarian organizations in Boston, pitching urgent press releases to large media outlets and writing speeches for use at international events, UN panel presentations, and US congressional hearings.

 

After moving to Muscat in 2013, Rebecca founded Olson LLC, a writing and editing company that specializes in web content, information architecture, marketing plans, and other professional materials for a diverse clientele.  Rebecca joined OABC as Executive Director in 2017, helping to double the organization’s membership and number of events annually. Promoted to CEO in 2023, Rebecca is passionate about serving OABC members, facilitating more trade between Oman and the U.S., and helping to make Oman an easy place to do business. Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys learning Arabic, traveling, music, and spending time with her three boys exploring the most beautiful parts of Oman.

H.E. Eng Belal Al-Hafnawi


Technology and Digital Transformation Leader

H.E. Eng Belal Al-Hafnawi is an ICT executive leader experienced in technology, management, leadership, regulatory and strategy. Currently working as Commissioner and full time Board Member at the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC).

His Excellency Belal has 20 years’ experience in technology, telecommunications, information technology and digital transformation. He has worked with several international mobile network vendors and service providers including Huawei, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung Electronics and STC.

He has wide work experience in various telecommunications fields, which include management, advisory, strategy, technical consulting, managing complex programs and projects, operation management and quality.
He holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Telecommunications from the University of Jordan, and holds executive certification in Management and Leadership from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), United states, which focused on business implications in Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things and platform strategies.

He is a technical writer, author and international speaker.

بدأ عزان مسيرته المهنية في الهندسة والتكنولوجيا في سن مبكرة، وتحديداً عندما أتيحت له فرصة الالتحاق بمدرسة فنية وهندسية في سن الحادية عشرة في مدرسة رويال جارد عمان التقنية. ثم واصل تعليمه في جامعة السلطان قابوس كمهندس ميكانيكي ثم انتقل إلى الخارج لمتابعة مهنة واعدة في إحدى الشركات الرائدة في مجال الخدمات النفطية.

دفعني شغفه بالتكنولوجيا نحو ممارسة مهنة في مجال ريادة الأعمال وبدء رحلة مع المؤسسين المشاركين. نشأت رحال نتيجة لاحتياجات العمل والمضايقات اليومية، حيث قدمت حلولاً مخصصة لتلك التحديات. سرعان ما أصبح رحال اسمًا مألوفًا مرادفًا للجودة وخفة الحركة وسرعة التسليم.

Dr. Jassim Haji

Dr. Haji is a veteran in the field Information and Communications Technology with over 3 decades of robust experience in implementing IT strategies to move applications/infrastructure, formulating vision, improving vision/culture, innovation and change management . With hands on expertise in reorganizing operations, managing core infrastructure including servers, storage, network, collaboration, application, middleware products. Deft in IT infrastructure management, management of heterogeneous networks, information security and service delivery as well as it regulatory compliance. Proven ability to affect transformational change across a range of operational areas and create a sustainable difference to a business’s operational performance.

Manage large scale delivery assignments for various platform technologies coupled with established credibility in providing domain support for managing operations round the clock while establishing command center and security operation.

He is continuously conducting research in Artificial Intelligence and Organizational Change, exemplified by his publications on latest technologies and how to be leveraged operationally and economically in organizations. He lead the entire Information Technology department in Gulf Air and implemented numerous cutting edge projects and technologies. He managed to achieve over 40 prestigious awards including 15 distinguished CIOs (Chief Information Officer). He formerly served on the board of directors of a leading hospitality and tourism technology provider in the Middle East and on SITA Council representing Middle East and North Africa. He has the ability to implement processes for improving IT Services entailing continual service improvement, service operations, service transition and service design & strategy.

Sharifa AlBarami

 

Start-up growth catalyst, tech expert, Angel investor, entrepreneurial ecosystem builder, founder & media personality.

Biomedical Scientist by academic education, she leveraged her knowledge in the field of technology Entrepreneurship as a career. She played a pivotal role in entrepreneurship education in Oman while being a member of the supreme council of education for eight years (2012-2020),

A great believer in blockchain technology, and the evolutionary power of Web3. An NFT & Crypto evangelist and community builder.

Previously, Managing Director at Oman Technology Fund, spearheading the establishment of US $15M seed fund and accelerator program aimed at investing in technology startups at the seed stage (2016-2018).

Sharifa was also Co-Founder and CTO of MarkeetEx, Oman’s first e-commerce marketplace and delivery App that offers grocery as well as retail products (2018-2022).

She is a member of the board of directors at Awasr Telecommunications Company.

Also previously, Founder of the BizHub Entrepreneurship Centre (www.bizhub-me.com). Previously, the primary consultant hired to design, execute and manage Oman’s first start-up accelerator & seed fund initiative, the “CELL”, a CSR initiative for OMIFCO, an Oman Oil Company Subsidiary (2012-2015).

Hassan Fida Hussain Al-Lawati

Hassan Al Lawati has more than 20 years of work experience in the sectors of Petroleum, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, with a qualification of MBA degree in Business Administration from University of Bedfordshire (UK). He aims to convert the Omani ICT industry from a technology consuming to a technology producing culture. He worked previously in Omantel, Shell Oman Marketing Company, and Information Technology Authority. He is currently working as the National Program Head for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technologies in the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and IT. He is working on a mission to establish the artificial intelligence and advanced technologies ecosystem in Oman by implementing the Oman’s National AI Strategy which been prepared under his supervision to support the national future direction for bridging the cooperation between the government entities, private firms, SMEs, community, and academia in order to enhance the productivity of the economic diversification sectors and their contribution to GDP.

Laila Al Hadhrami

Laila is a visionary and global futurist leader with over 20 years of experience in the government and private sector. She is the Managing Director of Communities Connect Cities (C3), a leading advisory company in smart and sustainable cities that empowers organizations to achieve their goals and create positive impact. She is also a recognized expert and advisor in metaverse, digital transformation, innovation, and tourism, with multiple publications and awards in these fields.

With a strong focus on the Middle East, Laila has been instrumental in shaping the smart cities agenda and strategy for various governments, UN organizations, and consulting firms. She is the founder of the Smart Cities Ambassadors program, a global initiative that nurtures and mentors individuals to become leaders in the field. She is also a sought-after global keynote speaker and author, who shares her insights and vision on the future of smart and sustainable cities, metaverse, and tourism. Rana Gujral

Rana Gujral is an entrepreneur, speaker, investor, and CEO at Behavioral Signals, an enterprise software company that excels at distinguishing behavioral signals in speech data with its proprietary deep-learning technology. As a thought leader in the A.I./technology space, he often leads keynote sessions and joins panel discussions at industry events such as the World Government Summit, VOICE Summit, The Next Web Conference, LEAP, DeepFest, and Blockchain Economic Forum.

In 2014, Rana founded TiZE, a cloud software for specialty chemicals, and held the role of CEO until its acquisition in 2016. Later, he served as a consultant in AI and Quantum Technologies for the Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE). Among his interests are the governance of artificial intelligence and quantum technologies, their legislative solutions, and their intersection with the field of information security. Dr. Almosallam is also a researcher and activist in the field of quantum computing, he published a number of journal articles, patents, and reports, most notably he authored a report titled “Governance of Artificial Intelligence”, and contributed to global reports with the World Economic Forum on the governance of quantum technologies and the secure digital transformation for the post-quantum era.

Ziad-Alexandre Hayek

Hayek has 42 years of experience in investment banking, international finance, board membership, corporate management, infrastructure, emerging markets, public policy, and government relations. He is currently the President of WAPPP (The World Association of PPP Units & Professionals), Co-Founder of Earth64, and strategic advisor to HyperCycle Ai.

In 2019, Hayek was nominated to be President of the World Bank. He has managed multinational teams in both the private and the public sectors and has lived and worked in Africa, the Middle East, Europe, the US, and Latin America.

As an investment banker, he held senior management positions at Citibank, Salomon Brothers, Banque Indosuez, and Bear Stearns. He traded foreign exchange, fixed income instruments, and derivatives, before going on to structured finance, securitization and, later, corporate finance. He led highly visible IPOs and fixed income capital markets placements and advised on M&A deals and infrastructure projects valued at more than US$15 billion.

Hayek is an international expert on public-private partnerships. He founded WAPPP, was Vice-Chair of the United Nations Working Party on PPP, External Advisor to Bain & Co. and Kearney, and Secretary General of Lebanon’s High Council for Privatization and PPP. He helped attract investment commitments of more than US$12 billion to Lebanon, has financed PPP deals in Latin America and Europe, and has advised the Chinese and other governments on PPP strategy and legislation. He worked extensively with UN entities, the World Bank, IFC, EBRD, EIB, and many strategic and financial investors.

His board experience includes membership of the boards of multinational companies, banks, professional associations, civil society NGOs, and a university. Kamal Youssefi

Kamal Youssefi is The President of the Board of The Hashgraph Association. He founded Swisscom Blockchain AG, and sits on the boards of multiple companies leveraging the potential of emerging technologies.

His previous projects dealt with structuring tech-enabled business transformations, designing trusted ecosystems for digital assets, and developing enterprise-grade blockchain applications. This includes over a decade in Europe at the Big 4 advisory firm EY and the Swiss Telco Giant Swisscom building digital platforms for enterprises and large corporates.
